Ballard High’s fake grass raises concerns

Ballard High School is replacing the natural grass in its athletic field with artificial turf this summer, and the Dateline Earth environment blog is wondering outloud whether that’s a safe move. The blog quotes a new story in USAToday that says fraying artificial turf fields could be contaminated with lead and pose a health hazard.
