Patches Pals, get out your calendars. The lifesize bronze statue of J.P. Patches and his sidekick Gertrude will be unveiled in Fremont on August 17th. “I’m in a sprint now,” says sculptor Kevin Pettelle, who’s putting the finishing touches on the statue. Called “Late for the Interurban,” it will be positioned near the “Waiting for the Interurban” statues. “I think it’s going to be fun,” says J.P. Patches himself, Chris Wedes, who’s fighting blood cancer.
