Update: SDOT has made some changes to its earlier planned closures and detours. The West Nickerson/West Emerson St. exit will now be closed just this Friday night. PRESS RELEASE — SDOT’s contractor will pave the northbound lanes of Elliott Avenue West and 15th Avenue West between West Lee Street and the Ballard Bridge next week, weather permitting. To minimize traffic disruption the paving crews will pave at night, Monday through Friday, June 16 – 20th. The contractor will set up for the work at 7 p.m. each night and may continue this work until 6 a.m. the following morning. The contractor will continue with other work in the street during the day.
• There will be significant traffic restrictions and traffic changes during the nighttime paving affecting both northbound and southbound travel and causing some street closures. Expect delays.
• The West Galer Street Flyover will be closed Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday nights, June 17 to 19, 8 PM – 11 PM. Vehicular traffic will be able to access the Magnolia Bridge and the Port of Seattle via West Garfield Street.
• The West Dravus Street OFF-ramp (from northbound 15th Avenue West) will be closed Tuesday night, June 17, after the West Galer Street Flyover opens.
• The West Dravus Street ON-ramp (to northbound 15th Avenue West) will be closed Friday night, June 20, 7 PM – 6 AM.
• Gilman Drive West will be closed to through traffic Monday thru Thursday nights, June 16-19, between 15th and 11th Avenue West; 7 PM to 6 AM. (Only local access will be permitted.)
• The West Nickerson Street/ West Emerson Street exit (from northbound 15th Avenue West) will be closed only Friday night, June 20, 7 PM – 6 AM.
At least two travel lanes will remain open to commuter traffic in each direction on Elliott and 15th Avenue West during peak periods. During non-peak hours there will be one to two travel lanes open in each direction, depending on the type of work and safety considerations.
Work will start in the southbound lanes of Elliott/15th Avenue West from West Nickerson Street to West Galer Street the week of June 23rd and is expected to be completed by late August.
