After months of waiting, Ristorante Picolinos on 32nd & 65th is almost ready to open. We caught up with the owner for the tour and he said they’re aiming for the first part of October for a grand opening.
The interior has been beautifully remodeled and the outside patio is equally impressive. This isn’t just a pizzeria. There will be an espresso bar with seating in the mornings that will be transformed to a wine/tapas bar in the evenings. Along with two good-sized dining rooms, there is also a private dining room that will host artwork to be showcased during the monthly ArtWalk. The owner is also contemplating using the room for a monthly wine tasting. Outside is a patio that probably won’t get used this year, but starting next summer you will be able to dine in a private, curtained-off cabana or just enjoy the outdoors. They are also growing their own herbs and have configured a drainage system that allows them to re-use rainwater for their gardens.
When Picolino’s first filed for a liquor license, a mention about “amplified music” created some controversy. Yet they signed a “Good Neighbor” agreement with the city and agreed to not play amplified music on the patio.
