For the last several months, many Ballard residents have been lobbying Amazon Fresh to expand its online grocery delivery service to our neighborhood. Even the sight of an Amazon Fresh truck briefly raised hopes, but they expanded to Fremont, instead. But today, we received this email from Amazon’s Vincent Chu:
We’ve been getting some requests for deliveries to both 98117 and 98107, and I thought you and your readers might be interested to know that a customer vote will decide where to open expand next. Between now and January 15th, we’re inviting residents to cast their vote for which zip code we should open. Based on customer feedback to date, this round of voting will be between the zip codes 98199, 98117, 98107, and 98115.
That’s Magnolia (98199), Ballard/Crown Hill (98117), Ballard (98107) and Ravenna (98115). Yes, it’s Ballard vs. Ballard, as only one zip code can win. The winner will see Amazon Fresh trucks in their neighborhood the week following the vote. One catch though: it will require an Amazon Prime membership to buy groceries. Ready? Cast your vote here. (Note that the results on Amazon Fresh’s site are not real-time but will be posted “almost daily.”)
Update: The first set of results have been posted with Ravenna in a surprising lead! Perhaps because it’s the default zip code? We’re checking with Amazon…
