Seattle Public Schools has received $9 million in grants for the Excellence for All plan that was approved by the school board in 2008. The plan was developed with community input and will set measurable targets for improving academic performance. The money will be used to enhance three areas: college readiness, staff development, and data, assessment and performance management. The Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation was the largest contributor with a $7.2 million grant. The Eli and Edythe Broad Foundation, the Boeing Company and The Stuart Foundation were also contributors.
