Memorial removed, family wants photos and notes

The memorial for Kevin Black on 24th Ave. near 65th St. has been taken down — only a bicycling jersey and a few dried flowers remain — and the family is hoping the pictures and notes haven’t been thrown away.

Michelle, Kevin’s ex-wife, had planned to take everything down last Sunday but just couldn’t bring herself to do it, a friend tells My Ballard. Then on Friday afternoon, the memorial was removed. “I saw a man there with a trash bag today, I thought he was just cleaning it up, not taking it down,” said BarelyBallard in the forum. The family really wants the notes and pictures that were left, especially the framed picture of Kevin with his two daughters and the notes the girls left there. Here’s a photo of one of them:

Kevin was the cyclist that was killed on February 4th at the intersection of 65th and 24th. If you have any information about the memorial, please email us at tips@myballard.com, and we’ll pass it along to friends of the family.
