Updated: You may have noticed what appears to be an April Fools prank at the empty lot at 28th and Market St. What’s that lurking in the water?
Writes My Ballard reader Ronna:
“A dragon is swimming in the pond of scum water left in the hole where the demolished Shell station fuel tanks used to live. The creature is not small. This creation must have required many hands to deploy in the bitter cold and dark. Don’t miss the Beware sign and the Swim At Your Own Risk signs also posted.”
Here’s a closer look at the mysterious creature:
It’s called a “Seagle,” according to an anonymous press release announcing its arrival at the “Ballard swimming hole.” The release says the creature will be auctioned off on eBay to raise money for the Nordic Heritage Museum and other charities. “Nobody here knows anything about it,” said Karen Hansen with the Nordic Heritage Museum when we called to check, but she said they always invite charitable contributions.
