We dropped by Sonic Boom Records today to check out a live performance by Ballard’s own “Say Hi,” one of several events celebrating Record Store Day.
“Say Hi” is Eric Elbogen, who wrote and recorded his sixth album, Oohs & Aahs, in his home studio, playing all the instruments himself. (Amazing, when you listen to the album.) Elbogen brought his indie pop sound to Ballard when he moved from Brooklyn in 2006, and he signed with the local label Barsuk.
He played a few tracks including the popular, “Sweet Sweet Heartkiller” and “Northwest Girls,” and he encouraged folks to support their local record stores, which are struggling in a digital world. As for Sonic Boom, today’s sale and live music events drew quite a crowd.
