The owner of Fremont’s George and Dragon pub is indeed expanding to Ballard.
John Bayliss tells us that the new place at the corner of Market and 24th will be called “The Market Arms.” Bayliss says The Market Arms will be open this fall.

Just in time to start watching some Premiership Football!
….and the World Cup next summer!
Woo hoo!
Yep, this is going to be awesome! Fish n' Chips, Bangers and Mash, Shepherd's Pie. Soccer on the tele. Mark my word, this place will be VERY popular. Ballard needed a pub like this. Plus, a two block walk from my house. Bring it on!!!
Thanks for one less boarded up storefront in Ballard!
Best wishes.
Hurray, I plan to drink Guinness, wear a black watch kilt, and dawn a shamrock crusted tam-o’-shanter, waive my union jack, and sing O'Danny Boy, in an effort to show how truly confused I am. Then when I'm good and drunk, I'll hop in my red minicooper with a Manchester United crest on the top, and vanity tags that say “AIG”, and drive it fast while I shout “bullocks” at everyone as I pretend to be a hooligan with a firm.
Just kidding, this place is close to me. It calls out to be a bar. I suspect it will become a good local. Just hope it is a successful English pub, you know the kind of place where TVs are kept quiet, and Ugly Yanks who don’t use their indoor voice will be shown the door.
Please love, out… end of rant.
+1 x 5 to The Market Arms, we await your arrival.
Heh, heh! Guinness is good for you, Edog.
I'm thinking this'll get a well behaved crowd of soccer hooligans, actually. Indoor voices, and all.
Perfect place for a bar. Love the corner location and love the windows. We'll be there!
Smythwick's. And a decent steak & kidney pie. And sticky, scarred real wood tables. And non-electronic darts. That's all I ask. It's not so much, really.
yes! darts please! and cider on draught!
Please have Boddington's on tap like the George and Dragon does!! YUM, can't wait for this place to open!
Do i have to like soccer to drink beer here?
WAHOO!
You just have to like beer to drink beer here, Skip. :-)
In my experience you don't need to know what's going on to have a good time.
brilliant!
Ooooo maybe I could get my cricket fix at the Arms….
