Police shoot bank robbery suspect in Greenwood

Traffic is moving again this morning after an officer-involved shooting at Greenwood Ave NW and Holman Road. Police say they’ve shot a man suspected in a series of bank robberies after he rammed an officer’s car.

Police say the suspect’s stolen pickup truck also crashed into a car with a man and two children inside. The suspect sustained serious injuries, and the man and children suffered minor injuries. The officer is OK.

Eastbound Holman Road was closed after the shooting, but reopened Wednesday night. PhinneyWood has been covering this story since it broke just after 5:30 on Wednesday, and they have more photos and details from the scene.

  1. 11:20pm – It sounds like Greenwood Avenue is finally open to all traffic. An officer just relayed that information to dispatch, and also thanked all assisting units, especially PEOs (Parking Enforcement Officers.) I believe they have an officer up at Harborview guarding the suspected bank robber who is still in the emergency room.

  2. I just watched this story on KIRO 7. Thank God they caught the prick, and thank God the unlucky crash victims are OK. I hope this guy gets everything coming to him.

  3. Was at the bank today, the tellers were talking about this bust.
Funny thing tho, one of them said 'bank robbery' several times…
I had to chuckle about it…when can you say that in a bank?

  4. Hey, I just ran across this Seattle Times article about this incident:

    http://seattletimes.nwsource.com/html/localnews

The article contains some interesting new information about the suspect. Among the crimes he is suspected of, “the robbery of an espresso stand in the 14300 block of Greenwood Avenue North.”

So this is the same rat-b*st*rd that robbed the poor Cowgirls at the coffee shop!

Here's that story over on Phinnywood: http://www.phinneywood.com/2009/06/29/police-se
