After years of planning, the groundbreaking for Crown Hill’s new Fire Station 35 is scheduled for next month
In 2006, the architectural firm of Rice, Fergus, Miller was chosen to design the replacement for the current Station 35 at 8729 15th Ave NW that was built in 1920. The above design is larger than the current building and meets all the current seismic standards. It will feature three bays, as opposed to the current two bays and there will be a second story. During construction, Station 35 will move to the former Crown Hill School property that was purchased by Seattle Parks earlier this year. The groundbreaking event is set for August 21 at 9 a.m.

While this is definitely good news, I'm a bit sad to see the old Art Deco station go. The price of progress and improved safety, damn it!
yeesh, what an ugly fire station this will be.
what were the architects thinking? did the city not see any of RFM's built projects? they are pretty horrible.
what was the city thinking? no one in seattle was qualified enough? does the fire department hate crown hill?
agreed.
