‘The Details’ filming on Ballard Ave

The movie starring Tobey Maguire, “The Details,” has been filming around Seattle and around Ballard.

Last weekend they were shooting at Salmon Bay School, today they’re on Ballard Ave. Attorney Peter Cowles emailed us that Ballard Ave will be closed today. “The interior of Collective and the exterior of Madame K’s and possibly others including my building (one of the oldest surviving structures in Seattle – some dispute about the build date but at latest 1888 but likely 1882) will be affected,” he writes. Caryn, the owner of Cookies, just sent us a note saying the trucks are parked along 22nd Ave NW and Market Street. We’ll be heading down very soon to get pictures.

  1. The 'security' for this production is quite rude and unprofessional. They are not telling you where you can and cannot be until it is too late. Then, they begin yelling at you and berating you for not knowing otherwise. Very disappointing when you are just going for a walk in your own neighborhood.

  2. Most film crews are d*cks about protecting the set, the don't get that people live there. I sort of understand, millions of dollars a minute to grab like 15 minutes of film, and one wrong person in the wrong place, it blows it all up.

Still they are pricks, when I used to live in DC, this crap happened all the time.

Nothing gets me more irrational than a rental cop/bouncer thug telling me where I need to be when I am in my own neighborhood.

  3. They used to film at my college in LA on a weekly basis. Huge pain! And they'd get mad when you ruined their shot when all you were trying to do was go to your car to go to your job.

  4. No kidding! When I lived in SF they filmed some film with Sean Connery and used my street as their staging area. I had to show my ID to the cops just to get back to my apartment. On the upside, Sean Connery's trailer was right outside my window and he was surprisingly sociable even if the rest of the crew wasn't.
