The Washington Federal Savings and Loan is looking to tear down and rebuild their current space on Market.
A Notice of Design Review Early Design Guidance Meeting has been issued for their location at 2020 NW Market St. The proposal calls for demolition of the current building which will be replaced by a two-story 8,400 sq. ft. building. There will be a remote drive-up teller station and 16 parking spaces on the adjacent site at 2021 NW 56th St. The applicants will present their plans to the committee at the early design guidance meeting on Monday, October 12th. The meeting will be held at the Ballard High School library at 6:30 p.m.

I was just noticing how this 60's era building is interesting from across the street and have alwasy liked the tile work in the back.
That said, it's also kind of hideous.
DOes anyone know if there are Ballard ave-like guidelines about building in that part of market street, or is it as likely to be another condo box as anything else?
I sure hope someone is able to save their trees. They're beautiful and inspiring.
Crap. There goes my final “secret” free parking in downtown Ballard.
Can we get ride of the drive-up teller stations??? Get out of your car and walk instead of sitting there and idling…
If we want a more walkable/breathable community let's stop building like its the 20th century and start planning for the future.
