The Department of Planning and Development is proposing to rezone three areas of Ballard.
The first is North of NW Market from about 26th Ave NW to 30th Ave NW (shown above.) The second is south of NW Market in the same area. The third area is along Leary west of 15th Ave NW. At last night’s Ballard District Council meeting, Andrea Petzel explained the reasoning to the group. “I think there was some alarm with all the residential development that was happening in Ballard and an increase in industrial/commercial was really seen as a way to balance that out with more jobs. Bringing jobs back to Ballard, so it was sort of a, you know, a much more well-rounded community.”
If you miss last night’s presentation, the Department of Planning and Development is holding an open house today from 4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. in the cafeteria auditorium of Swedish Ballard (5300 Tallman Ave).
