The Swedish flag has mysteriously vanished from Bergen Place Park.
Victoria from the Friends of Bergen Place emailed us this morning. She says that although the flag has been down several days, she was just made aware of it yesterday. “We are working to resolve this immediately.” She says that “outraged Swedes” have complained to the Nordic Heritage Museum, the Chamber of Commerce and to Victoria herself. “One way or another a Swedish flag will fly again by the end of the day today,” she says. People are welcome to report Bergen Place issues to Victoria at v.sangrey@comcast.net or Aaron Bert of Seattle Parks at Aaron.Bert@seattle.gov.

It matters not. Since the Oresund link was completed 9 years ago, all of Scandinavia is Danish once again.

it takes a swede to bring it to the attention of the staff.
The word on the street is that a Norwegian and a Dane conspired to make it disappear while trying to put the blame on the Fremont Troll.
Maybe someone is borrowing it for the weekend to bring to Houston to support the Sounders in the 2nd leg of the West Conference Semifinals? (Swedish Midfielder Freddie Ljungberg is on the team) :)
If only there was a place where one could get a Swedish flag, perhaps a retail establishment of some kind, maybe even one on Market Street…oh, yeah…right.

There are lots of people from all differnt nations living in Ballard now. How about flagpoles for everyone!
Beat me to it…
Hahahahahahaha! Thank you! I needed a good laugh.
If i have to paint my body blue and yellow, and climb up that pole I'll do it! Scandinavia's elite must be represented!!
I need something to wipe pigeon crap off my car…. sorry, will wash and return.
It is covering the ceiling or wall of a ballard teenager with oblivious parents.
chockerande!
Touche! Just goes to show you how desperate some people are for a Swedish Flag. Actually, I bought quite a few Norwegian and Swedish flags in there…I was sad to see it go.
I sincerely dount that it was stolen by any naughty Norski's at the Sons of Norway, though.
Suddenly, my imagination is running wild with “outraged Swedes”…
Sure! And while we're at it, let's take down all the signs in Asian lettering in the International District! Not everyone who lives there is Asian.
I have a Swedish flag, and a Swedish windsock…but they are smaller than the other flag sup there, or I'd offer.
Mener du sjokkerende?
What Bergen Place needs is a Bergen flag like this one http://www.flickr.com/photos/eckligt/119973174/…
The other Scandinavian flags can hang somewhere else.
Ja, sjølvsagt! Menn eg tenkt å prøve til skrive litt på svensk!
