King County Councilman Larry Phillips pushed to get $20,000 for the Ballard NW Senior Center (5429 32nd Ave NW) and the Greenwood Senior Center (525 N 85th St) after funding was cut in the 2010 budget. Because of lower than expected costs and federal and state reimbursements, the King County Council was able to give money to human services organizations that were cut in next year’s budget. “I’m glad this funding will enable our seniors to remain engaged in our community and connected to services that improve their quality of life,” Phillips said.
