Savour, the specialty food shop that’s been in the works at 2242 NW Market Street, opens today.
We stopped in Tuesday for a sneak peek and found the shelves full of flavored salts, gourmet sauces, colored popcorn and more. They also have cheese, wine and beer, plus glasses, wine openers, and little salt spoons. The owner, Holly McLean, tells us that she decided to do this in April. She wrote up a business plan, found a space and has been working tediously to get the shop open. From the number of people who poked their heads in while we were there, it seems there is lots of curiosity for Savour. Here’s a coupon for 10% off or 15% off with a donation to the Ballard Food Bank. (Savour is a sponsor of MyBallard.)

I think she is working tirelessly…a new venture like this sounds like anything but tedium!
In this economy, perhaps she's working timorously.
Or perhaps shimmeringly, 'tis the season and all.
Just popped in there today. Looks like lots of different kinds of yummies!
I have to admit I thought the same thing – English majors unite!
Ok, I have a food item suggestion – I know there is a store in the Pike Place Market for this, but it can be a pain to deal with going down there and the tourist crowds and such. Red pepper jelly. I've looked for it at QFC and all I found was jalapeno jelly which isn't the same (since I don't like jalapenos). It's a common condiment in New Orleans and so good. Plus red pepper vinagraittes are really good too.
