This coming Saturday is the return of the popular foodie event, Mobile Chowdown, which gathers the city’s best “curbside cuisine” in one location.
The Chowdown will take place once again in Interbay at 1616 W Bertona from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. The vendor list includes some of the originals, plus some new foods to try. They’re bringing back Marination Mobile, Dante’s Inferno Dogs, Gert’s BBQ and El Camion. New attendees are Veraci Pizza, Anita’s Crepes, Top Pot Doughnuts and Kaosamai Thai.
There was criticism after the first event in October about the event being unorganized. This time around we’re told that things will be better. “At this round the trucks will placed more strategically so that the lines will be more distinguishable between trucks. There will also be event staff that will keep things a bit more organized. Because the last event was the first time any of the vendors took part in an event like this, it was a learning experience for all. This time they will be more prepared with food, etc.,” says Jamie Hintz, Suzuki + Chou Communimedia, one of the event sponsors. There will be live music and a dining area (no word yet on the bathroom situation).

I hope it'll be better organized, as reported. My wife and I walked down there last time, as we live rather close. When we saw what a mess it was, we just turned around and headed for Red Mill.
It would be nice if more people took the bus to this. The traffic was pretty bad during the last one for people who live in the neighborhood. Both the 15 and the 18 stop just a block away.
Is this happening Saturday and Sunday?
“This coming Saturday…..” , as stated in the first line of this post.
Ummm, no. The first line of the story says “This coming Saturday” and later “from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.” so I think it's logical to assume that it's Saturday from 11 AM to 3 PM.
Yeah, but the way Metro operates if people did try to take the bus it would be over full and not pick anyone up just like every year for Solstice and fireworks on the 4th.
This was great fun! The lines were long, but we expected that, parking was challenging, but we expected that as well. The gate watcher indicated over 1800 people when we asked at 1pm. My only suggestion, can we ask Gert's to NOT come back next time? Of all the food we sampled we were happy EXCEPT for this dismal (actually inedible) excuse for 'CurbSide Cuisine'. We are looking forward to the next event!
