As the east coast is getting walloped by a winter storm, we’ve been enjoying spring-like weather here in Ballard.
Robby emailed us, “I was walking today in Ballard, and I couldn’t help but notice that I have seen several trees which already appear to be in bloom.”
He snapped these pictures near the corner of Leary Way & NW Dock Place. You can see Robby’s other photos here.

Nice work, Robby! Those are gorgeous!!
No wonder I'm a sneezin'.
My husband (he's Norwegian) who has lived in Ballard and Crown Hill for 35 years cautioned me the other day that “appearances can be deceiving” when I told him about the irises, crocuses, prim roses blooming in our yard. I have no way to know but I don't think we've had a low temperature below freezing since before Christmas.
And everyone here in DC thinks I'm crazy for always wanting to move back to Seattle!
This is Prunus blireiana, a flowering plum.
