Seattle Public Utilities has announced that there will be no garbage collection on Thursday because of the strike by Teamsters Local 174. Customers who normally have their garbage picked up today may set out up to twice their garbage, yard waste and recycling next week, at no additional cost. The strike officially started at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, so this is the first full day the union is striking against Waste Management.

Yeah unions!
Fire them all
Great idea! Then you can do the job for half as much with no health care all while WM still charges the city the same amount and racks up another year of record profits!
Always nice to hear from the penut gallery..
Obviously you've been paid well and fairly for every job you have ever had, never been missed for a rais due to you, and benifits have fallen from the trees like ripe fruit everywhere you go..
The rest of us in the real world appreciate what Unions do.
Cancel your garbage service until the strike is over.
I think there are plenty out there that would work for 50K/year, putting 10K/year of pre-tax income into their own health care costs. I am not saying this is “bad” or “good”, just pointing out a plausible scenario. You might want to rethink your retort.
Welcome to deflation nation.
Employment is optional. Don't like what you are making, get a different job. That's what most people do. Why are you so special that you must screw up other people's lives just because you want more?
This 2010, not 1910. Fire 'em.
I'd rather take the salary that WM's crack management team gets and the private jet that goes with it. Millions and more millions in stock is what I'm looking for.
If the unions don't stand up, the rest of us lose too.
You're either a stooge or a corrupt owner to think otherwise.
