The Loyal Heights Community Center held a vigil of sorts last night — and has planned another one for tonight — to attract neighbors to sign a petition urging the city not to cut the center’s funding.
Organizers ringed the community center with paper bag lanterns. “We just wanted to symbolically protest the city’s impending decision to cut one of the two centers but also to demonstrate our regard for LHCC—it is a very special place,” said Mindy Terence, who’s organizing the petition drive. Weather permitting, organizers plan to do it again tonight beginning at 8 p.m.

Earlier: Community center at risk of being shut down
Props to Josh M and Hector R!
I’ll bet they close LHCC and keep the BCC open.
