A new restaurant is about to open in the space formerly occupied by Himitsu Sushi (and Quiznos before that) at the intersection of 15th Ave NW and NW 65th street. Stackers Pizza and Subs plans to open its doors on May 31.
We stopped by this morning to take a look inside where crews are still busy renovating the dining room. Owner Larry Holm tells us the restaurant will seat 32 people and will offer lunch and dinner between 10am and 8pm. They’ll start out with a larger sandwich selection than pizzas, but plan to expand the menu as they go. They’ll also offer such fare as chicken strips and buffalo wings. Stackers also hopes to start delivering in the near future. (Thanks to Joel for the tip!)
nice! glad to see a sushi place have other options like burgers and pizza!
Just what we need another Pizza Joint.
The key to success at that location is to cater to the BHS crowd (to whom a sushi joint might not be as palatable). Hopefully, they will offer pizza by the slice.
Good luck. crappy location . no place to park
The sign is misleading. The Sushi place is dead and gone, just the sign remains like a bad penny. New signs are due in a week or so.
Business name is Stackers Pizza and Subs.
No sushi.
@Joe: We like to think of it as ‘bicycle friendly’.
Good luck Tim. Seems to me the original occupant of that space was a Quizno’s and they only gave up when they were forced to because a monorail station was supposed to built on that spot. I think you’ll do well with the h.s. kids and they don’t need parking.
who needs parking! It’s also right next to the bus stop and a quick stop for many walking by on their way home.
There IS a small amount of parking to the left. It can hold a few cars.
I live across the street so I will be in to try ya out…though not if there isn’t anything veggie lol. Good luck in the cursed location…time to break the curse anyways.
Welcome to the ‘hood Stackers. Great sandwiches are always welcome in Ballard!
I’ll chime in with Kole in the request for yummy veggie options.
When I went to Ballard, that spot was a Quizno’s and it did fairly well. As long as you can provide a meal for $4-$6 it should do good business, I think. We would trek to Godfather’s Pizza (RIP) for their all you can eat pizza for $5. Good luck Spinners!
I wonder what happened to Zagi….
Hopefully they will do better than Zestos across the street…Yuck! The Thai place next door could use the extra traffic as well. Is there going to be beer? Just thinking about a slice with a cold beer in the summer!
I live in the area and always wondered as I watched businesses come and go in that building, why anyone would choose to be there. Parking is all but impossible and yes there is a place to the side which might have a space open but nothing I’d count on. It’s nice to see another restaurant in the neighborhood but not the kind of food I’d go look for. Maybe it can cater to the High School crowd but that can mean quiet time during the summer.
