Paper that’s covered the windows of Enlighten (5424 Ballard Ave NW) for the last four months has finally been taken down to reveal the new Enlighten Cafe.
The new cafe opened this week, serving espresso, beer, wine and everything off the Root Table menu. “We are also keeping a certain percentage of the shop as furniture and home decorations with the idea of it eventually being more of an art space,” owner Chris Wilcynski tells us.
Enlighten Cafe is open from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. everyday.

A cafe that opens at 10?
And too many IKEA lights.
I’ll pass.
A cafe that’s open until 10!
And some sweet hardwood floors.
I’m in!
Enlighten, Spandex crowd, what does high priced furniture have to do with coffee?
I guess Spandex crowd whining about their bike trails think 10 is a fine time to open none of them have real jobs anyway.
I resemble that remark Swede!
Are they a member of the Ballard Chamber of Commerce?
If yes, Ican not spend money there.
GeekySwedes should say whether it is a member or not when writing about new businesses.
I think GeekySwedes should disclose what political party all the business’s support so I can decide whether or not to boycott them in case I disagree with a particular issue.
I for one am glad that they were able to adjust their business model after what happened with the owners of Sustainable. Good for them for making the most of an unfortunate situation. Best of luck!
WildernessBarbie — what happened to the owners of Sustainable? I want to know this gossip!
Sustainable fighting Enlighten?
Sounds like mud wrestling with overweight, middle aged hippies.
I’m in! Root Table’s food is great. I like the hours, too. I’m skipping the spandex, though.
Welcome (back) to the ‘hood!
