All 58 Bartell Drugs locations, including Ballard (5605 22nd Ave NW) are collecting school supplies for needy kids. The 7th annual “School Tools for Kids in Need” program, which runs through August 29th, is sponsored by Bartell and World Vision.
The school supplies will go to students who qualify for free or reduced-price lunch programs. Their teachers will be able “shop” through the donated supplies at World Vision’s Teacher Resource Center.
Basic Needs list suggestions found can be found in Bartell’s “School Aisles,” and include:
- Acme Rulers
- Dixon #2 Pencils
- Bic Cristal or Round Stic Ink Pens – 10 pack. Blue or Black
- Elmer’s Glue – Glue-All or School Glue/4 oz. bottles
- 3M Scotch Scissors for Kids
- Avery Glue Stic/2 pack – Acid-free, photo-safe, permanent, washable
- Pentel Hi-Polymer Erasers – 3 pack
- Avery Poly Binders – 1/2″ or 1″ sizes
- Prang Crayons – 24ct
- Avery Hi-Liter Markers – Yellow or Pink
- C Leonard Erasers
Crayons – Alas, no more Burnt Sienna
Nice that teachers can shop at a reduced rate for kids who are in need. I'm an educator myself and am grateful. Seriously.
But kinda sad, eh?
Another thing that is never on lists but grade schools frequently need are sweat pants. When little kids have accidents they need something to wear for the rest of the day. We usually buy a dozen or so for the school my mom was a teacher at.
