It didn’t make the list of top 20 farmers markets in the nation, but the Ballard Farmers Market did win a contest for the best in our state. The online contest by the American Farmland Trust, which we first told you about earlier this summer, wrapped up just after midnight this morning. The Ballard Farmers Market received 1285 votes, far ahead of the second place Olympia Farmers Market which got 257 votes.

yay! It’s a beautiful market. :) Keep Ballard not weird!
This is fantastic. I love the market early in the morning.
Ballard was actually better than just in the top 20; we were # 4 in the nation for Large Markets (with 56 or more vendors). It takes a click on the blue tab at the right to see the results for our category. By my count we were # 1o out of markets of all sizes. I wouldn’t have imagined anything less as it’s definitely the best market I’ve ever had the pleasure of being able to walk to but pretty impressive none-the-less! Go Ballard!
Yes, the P-I story also lead with “no markets in Seattle”, then later on noted the #4 among large markets. Sometimes we transcribe without understanding.
Love the photo – babies, dogs, sunshine, shoppers! All it needs is a busker! The Ballard Sunday Market makes me happy every time I visit. ;-)
