Help celebrate Leif Erikson Day this Saturday at the Leif Erikson Lodge (2245 NW 57th St) and Viking Bank (2237 NW 57th St). The day honors the Norse explorer who is credited with bringing the first Europeans to the Americas.
From 2 p.m. to 5 p.m., the Puget Sound Chapter of Volvo Sports America will host a the “Swedish Iron” Volvo and Saab Car Show, bringing in classic Swedish cars, dating pre-1973. The Nordic Heritage Museum will also have the “Nordic Spirit” on display.
In the evening, the Leif Erikson Lodge will host a smorgasbord dinner and presentation. A social hour with music by Folk Voice Band will kick the evening off at 6 p.m. Dinner will begin at 7 p.m. Elisabeth I. Ward, Ph.D., will talk about “Sailing into the Afterlife: The Viking Boat Burial Tradition” will begin at 7 p.m. This event is $35. Please RSVP by Wednesday (October 6th) to 206-783-1274.
