The Mailbox at the corner of 24th Ave NW and NW 80th St has a new look.
A look at The Mailbox before the changes.
The new look for The Mailbox.
Ferrol Williams, the founder and operator of The Mailbox tells us that along with the new look on the outside, there are changes to the inside as well. The Mailbox is now carrying local items such as Cadeaux Chocolates, Ballard Organics, SeaBear Wild Salmon and a few new card lines. “Our investment in the new brand and the product line is really an investment in our community;” Williams writes in a press release, “it’s a risky economic time but we have strong faith in our customers and stand firm with all other local businesses who are just saying ‘no’ to the recession.”
The Mailbox is holding a contest to name their new dog mascot which you can see here on their logo. Community members have until November 19th to submit names at the store, via email (vote@themailboxballard.com) or on Facebook. The winning name will be announced at an open house on November 20th. The winner will receive $100 gift certificate from one of a selection of local businesses
Thanks for making the investment. Although I live just a few blocks away, I’ve never been in. But that will all change now!
Great redesign! Yeah gentrification!
I love the new look!
I love the new sign! It’s nice to see on our dark, grey days. I mail everything here now even though I live in Greenwood because they’re so efficient & nice. None of the grumpy unpleasantness I get at the post office and none of the attitude or pushy up-selling I’ve gotten at other independent mailing centers. At the Mailbox I get great service, someone with a sense of humor, and I’ve gotten good restaurant suggestions. Yea!
I love the new look. And hooray for “just saying no to the recession”!!
Love the new look! And I like how they chose grey but a shade off from the business next door. Looks coordinated but it is clear there are two businesses.
I agree. Everything on the outside looks great and totally worth the effort. The interior looks cleaner too, but I think the colors are way too dark in there. A few shades lighter and it’d be a home run.
I LOVE LOVE the new look! Very classy and very inviting! And I love that you are carrying some great local products! Always been a great place to do business but never a very attractive storefront. Thank you for making the investment to make our neighborhood nicer and thank you for being such a great business in our community!
Looks great, way to go!
I’m not entirely sure how you manage to conflate rebranding w/ gentrification as The Mail Box is an extant business and not a trendy newcomer catering to a demographic or niche originally alien to the neighborhood.
Thanks for being such a great neighborhood resource! We love you guys!
We always, ALWAYS use Ferrol’s shop, and have since she opened. We live several blocks away, but this is is our main “mailing station.” I love the new look and appreciate their courteous and friendly service. Now all they need to complete the ’50s retro theme is a soda fountain and a juke box! (I’m kidding…but a name for the doggy would be nice…maybe ‘Fonzi’?).
They’re trying to the newcomers. Trust me, as a yuppie and gentrifier, it’s quite eye-catching!
As long as they don’t sell those stupid “Ballard” t-shirts with the star on them like sip and ship, I am fine with using their services.
