Boo-Boo the dog got loose a week ago and “ran off in a blind panic” the Craigslist posting reads.
Boo-Boo is a former rescue pup (kept by a hoarder for the first 9 mos of her life) and has permanent problems as a result……we are scared that some well meaning person might mistake those issues for signs of current abuse at home. That is not the case! She is extremely shy and nervous around new people and as a result has uncontrollable shaking, especially in her rear legs when she is in such a situation. Also, she is terrified when lifted off the ground…..her mouth falls open and her whole body goes stiff, almost catatonic. This is all from her early life neglect and mistreatment. It has nothing to do with the loving care we have given her since she came to us in ’07. She is a very important part of our lives and we are hoping she is still safe and one of you nice people can help her find us again.
According to the posting, Boo-Boo is microchipped and did have her Seattle license tag on when she got loose. There is a small reward for her return, “We don’t have much, but she means the world to us, so we will find a way to make it happen if that is what it takes to bring her home/find out where she is,” the owners write. You can get more information and contact the owner through this Craigslist posting. (Thank you Crownhiller for posting this in the forum.)
Wow, that breaks my heart. I hope you find her!
5 days is enough time for her to have roamed the entire Ballard neighborhood, but is it known where she was last seen?
Look on the Phinney-Greenwood blog at the top, a person found a dog there. Hope you find it.
she broke her tie out near 65 & 8nw, & ran south on 8th….but by the time I got around the corner I could no longer see her. motorists told me she was further down 8th, so I went all the way to market st, calling and looking down side streets the whole way. we check the shelter in person every day. we have a few posters up (money is tight) and made more hand-bill size copies we are handing out to all the dog walkers and anyone else who will take one as we canvas the ballard area during off-work hours and on weekends. we also gave flyers to the local pet stores: mud bay, all the best, etc. desperate for help locating our special girl.
can you help me out with more info…I’m not sure where to find the blog you are referring to. thanks!
Boo was outside my work, tied out with her “older sister” dog Hazel for a few minutes while I dropped off some paperwork and stuff, we were about to go home. She was last seen near 65th & 8th NW, heading south on 8th. By the time I got around the corner, she was not visible….motorists said she was further down 8th. searched all the way to market, looking up all side streets and calling for her but never saw her again. we have been to the shelter every day it is open (calling on the days it is not) but she has not been turned in or listed as being privately held (& fortunately she is also not on the DOA list-which gives us some hope she is still out there and safe). it has been over a week now (day 8 today) and we have no idea how far she may have traveled. I do know she wouldn’t cross any of the bridges on foot….so she is probably still in the area or to the east/west/north. any and all help bringing our special girl back to us would be greatly appreciated! thanks.
Male lab mix found near 6th & 76th

Update: The dog, which wasn’t chipped, has been taken to the Seattle Animal Shelter at 2061 15th Ave. W. in Interbay. Their telephone is 206-386-PETS (7387) and it’s answered from 7:10 a.m. – 8:45 p.m. seven days a week.
Colleen wrote to us tonight to say she found an older male lab mix.
He was first spotted at the pocket park on 6th and 76th. After much following a few near misses with cars, we were able to get him leashed. He does not have a collar or any physical id, although there’s a fur print where a collar likely lived. He’s a very sweet old guy. I’m sure he’s missing his human. They can reach me at 206-423-6196. If we don’t hear from anyone soon, I’ll take him over to the shelter to see if he has a chip.
I am in your area and would be glad to post flyers while out walking my dog. Let me know how I can go about getting some flyers and where you would like them posted.
I will be in the area again today searching for Boo-Boo. We just checked with Lynnwood PAWS and King County Shelter in Bellevue in person today (again) and are making a quick “pit stop” at my work (65th and NW 8th) to check for messages. Anyone interested in getting some flyers to hand out or who has any information/sightings please call me on my cell phone, the # is (206) 423-5822. Thanks, Kat (Boo’s owner)
PS- Boo is female, about 3 1/2 yrs old, black and tan. Thanks for the tip about the Lab, but it obviously couldn’t be her. She is a shepherd/beagle mix, about 35-40 pounds. Last seen still wearing her bright blue leather collar with the bone shaped studs. unfortunately the name tag was found at home on the bed after she went missing. Seattle license, on a separate ring was not at home so I assume it is still on her collar. Since we check the shelter every day it is open, it is safe to bring her there or to call for their assistance if needed. Thanks again for everyone for helping look for our missing girl.
I saw this on the blog this morning and then around 2:50ish today saw a dog running aimlessly across the street in Fremont that matched this description. I made a note that its collar was electric blue. I was at the 7-11 on Leary, saw it run across the street and then lost sight of it. It seemed to me like it may have ran behind the shops on the opposite side of the street from 7-11. It was running hard.
