‘Like’ Molly Moon’s for a permanent shop in Ballard

Molly Moon’s Handmade Ice Cream is looking to open their third shop in Seattle, but they aren’t sure which ‘hood they should move to so they’re turning to their fans for help.

Over the next three months, the Molly Moon’s ice cream truck named Leo will be parked in three different neighborhoods to see where they have the most followers. Leo will start in Madrona this month, move to Queen Anne in January and finish off here in Ballard in February.

Social media is also playing a part in the process. Fans can “like” the official “Bring Molly Moon’s to Ballard” Facebook page if you want the ice cream shop to permanently move to Ballard.

Molly Moon’s currently has shops in Wallingford and Capitol Hill.

  1. I agree, what’s wrong with a Baskin and Robbins? All these ‘natural’ and ‘organic’ ice creams, made with fresh ingredients by hand, are for the birds.

You can barely taste the artificial flavoring in this yuppie stuff!

  2. Isn’t true that Molly Moon’s is more of an ice cream mixing company? They get their ice cream from Snoqualmie Gourmet Ice Cream and then mix in ingredients? Molly Moon’s ingredients and ice cream is tasty and unusual but I think their tagline of Homemade Ice Cream is misleading.

  3. As long as there is salted caramel gelato or ice cream, and pistachio, here in Ballard, then I’m happy. But I wouldn’t mind having a store in a cleaner block, maybe with parking, and no cranky store owner.

    That’s a lot to ask, I know.

  5. @just saying – actually Molly Moon’s does produce their own ice cream. Not sure what company you’re thinking of, but I can tell you it is made by them.

  6. Here is molly moon’s blog entry about how they use Snoqualmie Gourmet, who “milk and sugar homogenized together” which to me reads as ice cream mix

  7. sorry, the forum won’t let me post links, but you can go to Molly Moon’s blog dated Oct 6, 2008 and read about the “milk and sugar homogenized together”

  8. Dear Molly Moon’s,

Please keep your mediocre ice cream and longs lines out of Ballard.

    Signed,
Someone who hates mediocre ice cream and long lines.

  9. Better yet, skip the lines, and just go to the Ballard Market and buy Snoqualmie Gourmet. The man who owns SG makes his ice cream, by hand AND all the ingredients that go in it (cookie pieces, brownies, etc) from scratch. It’s the best ice cream I’ve ever had – AND they make frozen custard and gelato. Same ice cream (only better), no lines, less expensive. Problem solved.
