Ballard Market (1400 NW 56th St) is holding a holiday open house this evening from 5 to 9 p.m. and the Adams Choir kids have been invited to sing. The group will be serenading shoppers from 6:15 p.m. until about 7 p.m.

Whoever planned this thing had less intelligence that a bag of nails. There was no parking in the lot or on the streets – people were circling over and over looking for any space to open up. Someone set the kids up right inside the doors – shoppers all had to gingerly navigate their way in or use the other door. Food was set up all over, with clusters of salivating Americans lining up for some tiny bit of fudge or cheese, making it impossible to actually get any shopping done. The look and movement patterns of mindless cattle predominated. Personally, I just went in for a sandwich and some fruit. I made it back out 30 minutes later after weaving around all of the obstacles Ballard Market set up for it’s clients. Too bad I didn’t see this post prior to heading over – I would have avoided the market at all costs.
