Each month the Ballard Rotary chooses two students as their “students of the month.” This month Ballard High School seniors Danny Thomson and Sydney Jarol have been selected.
Danny Thomson:
Excelling both on and off the field, Danny has been a 3 year letter winner in Baseball, serving 2 years as captain. Thomson has been a member of the National Honor Society for 2 years, is a student leader in Astrobiology, and was selected by Advanced Placement teachers to be a mentor to young AP writers. Thomson has been BHS Student of the Quarter more than once while he’s been a Beaver. Danny spends his summers playing select baseball and coaching younger kids the game of baseball. Thomson plans on continuing his baseball career at Princeton and majoring in Science.Sydney Jarol:
President of SLAM Club (Student Lives Always Matter), co leader of Earth Service Corps, member of Women’s Chamber Choir, Vocal Jazz, Concert Choir, and avid community server; Sydney is an exceptional leader in her school and community. She is a volunteer at Ten Thousand Villages, and spent the summer in the North Cascades studying Climate change and returned to educate elementary students on what she learned. Sydney was selected as a teen in public service and was given an internship at a non-profit organization. Jarol received an honorable mention for a documentary she produced. She plans on attending an East Coast film school and her ultimate career goal is to become an editor or director in the film industry.
It is incredible that we have such dedicated and talented students in our neighborhood! Good job Danny and Sydney.
Thanks Rotary for honoring these great kids!
