Instead of paying the registration fee for a large race, a group of Ballardites decided to take that money and donate it to charity.
This last Sunday, a group of runners participated in the five- or 13-mile-run around the neighborhood. “We had 20 runners and six volunteers show up, and (including employer matching) have raised more than $1200,” Lexy Relph emailed us. The money raised will be donated to the Seattle-based One-by-one organization. “We think that’s terrific, and hope that other casual, community groups will be encouraged to try similar types of giving events,” Relph says.
