The Ballard High School softball team is holding a home run derby today to raise money for the Kathi Goertzen Foundation.
Over the span of more than a decade, longtime KOMO anchor Kathi Goertzen has been fighting a brain tumor at the base of her brain. Kathi’s 15-year-old daughter Andrea is a pitcher on the close-knit BHS team and teammates are all wearing bracelets that say “Pray 4 Kathi” on one side and “Never say you can’t” on the other. “We kind of had that instant heartache for her as well,” teammate Jamie Thelen told KOMO news, “so it wasn’t even a second thought that we had to support our teammates.”
Today’s derby will take place at 3:30 p.m. at lower Woodland Field (Green Lake Way N & N 50th St). Each member of the team gets 10 swings to see how many home runs they can hit. Their goal is $1,500. You can donate to the Kathi Goertzen Foundation home run derby here. (Thanks Tim for the tip!)
I am very sorry that Ms. Goertzen is ill, and my heart goes out to her and her family.
But, she is a Nazi Teabagger.
I do not wish her harm. But I DO wish her out of politics.
Amen.
Might you have her confused with Susan Hutchison?
D’oh! My (very) bad! Thanks for correcting my synaptic mis-fire.
All the best to Ms. Goertzen.
(Not so much to Ms. Hutchinson…)
Dan, I do wish you liberal progressives would get out of Ballard. I wish you no harm, just get out.
Why Don’t you big mouths quit flapping your jaws and donate some cash.
I did, did you?
yea
Idiot!
