Two new tenants are moving into the former Ballard Food Bank location on 24th Ave NW.
Kirk Holmes, the owner of Seattle’s Train Center, will be moving into the southern space and he tells us a preschool will be moving into the northern space. Holmes has been in the model train business since 1993 when he and his wife opened in Magnolia. They’re currently in Interbay, but looking forward to being in the neighborhood setting. Since signing the lease and doing work on the new space, he said he’s seen quite a few families walking around – something he doesn’t get in Interbay.
Once up and running, Holmes will have model trains circling the shop and displays in the windows. He plans to open the middle of May.
Interbery? Is that a mash up of Interbay and someplace else?
Another train store?!
How many train stores can ballard have. All of these yuppies and their model trains are ruining ballard.
Sounds like a nice addition to the hood!
Besides this is America! We don’t ride trains, we drive cars!!! Leave the trains to those cheese eating surrender monkeys. Why would any God fearing patriotic American want to take a train when they could enjoy the freedom of sitting stationary in their car during gridlocked traffic or better yet experience the comfort of airline travel with the TSAs free shoe inspection service, timely schedules, stellar food and spacious seating. USA! USA!! USA!!!!
Hello Thomas! Welcome to the island of Sodor.
I know two little boys who are going to be thrilled to have a ‘train store’ so close.
I know one “older” boy who is going to be thrilled. :-)
Yep, I’ve got two little boys who are going to be very excited about this. If he wants even more business, he should try selling some of the non-Thomas wooden trains for kids like Whittle. We’d be die-hard customers if we could find a toy store that sold these around here. Our little boys will definitely enjoy the window-shopping, though. I hope there are enough model-train-enthusiasts to keep this place open, it sounds fun.
Oh, that’s so cool! I can’t honestly say I’m likely to buy much there, but it will be neat to have in the neighborhood, and I’ve been hoping something would move in soon.
I’m a train junkie. Where are the other Ballard train stores?
Hi Snoopy . Just in case you may have missed it We are the only one left in the city limits But please do stop by and say hi
