Ballard will soon be getting a new Thai restaurant.
Thai Thani (pronounced: tawney) is expected to open the first of June in the previous location of Subway at the corner of Ballard Ave NW and Leary Ave NW. The owner tells us that the restaurant will be decorated with antiques that are currently being shipped from Thailand. This is the second Thai restaurant for the owner, his first restaurant is in south Seattle.

Maybe we can outdo Fremont on how may thai places we can have in ballard!
More bad Thai food. All sweet and sickly, no fish sauce, bland and served up to Seattleites as slop.
I love it when chains are replaced by local businesses.
That is the corner of Leary and MARKET – note Ballard Ave.
What is the name of the south Seattle restaurant.
I wonder what Thani means in Thai… In Tamil it means water…
Hear, hear! I hope they can do a few things to make that corner look less strip-mall-y.
That is the corner of Market and Leary – not Ballard Ave.
Fuck nasty ass Thai food
this is AMERICA
AMERICA.
why are all these fucking spiced-slop restaurants popping up on market, AMERICAN market?
subway is more local then anything else, its a part of our culture now. now we have to walk an extra 6 blocks
theres already 20 Thai food shops on that same strip
what that? anyone hear CH-CH-CHINATOWN
Huh? I don’t understand your objection (or if you’re trying to make some sort of poorly-composed joke).
I am American. I eat a lot of Thai food. The two are not mutually exclusive.
Yeah, Guest, this is America. What’s with all the beef, chicken, and bread we’re being force-fed? We should be eating bison, salmon, berries, corn, and squash. True AMERICAN food.
(That’s what you meant, right?)
Thai? I expected a Pho Yoga Bakery. :)
what does Chinatown have to do with Thai food?
Wow. You are totally rude.
I would have probably rolled my eyes two years ago about this news but honestly, why not open a Thai restaurant there? I welcome them. It’s a small space and can only work for so many types of establishments.
My office is a block away from here and the vegan Thai place on Ballard Ave. is currently the only one open during lunchtime hours. (I am NOT counting the mediocre teriyaki place or the Monkey / Vietnamese place). I go to the vegan place often but every once in a while some beef/chicken in the noodles would be nice, too.
More power to them if they can serve up good food and make that space, with its weird floorplan and lack of parking, work. Time will tell…
Don’t forget about Thaiku. Shurely you’ve tried that place?
And what would you know about Thai food, oh Great Leader?
ummm to all that is gonna eat there please beware of cockroaches. there is tons of them there in that complex. i think they are coming from the pho shop.
With the amazing potential of time travel and all of it’s infinite possibilities the only news you bring from the future is a one line restaurant review that it isn’t to your liking? Consider me disappointed, not in the new restaurant that is about to open, but disappointed in your squandering the potential of time travel.
So much hate for a place that hasn’t even opened yet. Weird.
Funny. :)
There are many, many cockroaches everywhere, and the ones in that building were probably there for decades before Than Bros. moved in. Welcome to earth.
where is the address? or phone #
What is the first one name?
