The Ballard High School DECA Club is creating a new board game all about Ballard. Local businesses, organizations and individuals can purchase real estate on the board for company logos or personal messages. The price for a “property tile” and “property card” is $350, money is $500, chance/community cards are $500 and one-inch by one-inch message tiles are $100.
Board space is limited and will be issued on a first-come, first-served basis. Orders must be postmarked by June 23rd. For more information and the order form, click here (.pdf.)
The game will be available for sale this fall. Proceeds support the DECA club.
Neat idea, very fun, best of luck to them.
I can’t help but think, though, that they could have partnered with Card Kingdom and done this with a /good/ board game. _Ballard Power Grid_? _Dominion: Ballard Intrigue_? _On the [Nonexistent] Ballard Underground_?
Monopoly is how we teach kids that boardgames are tedious and joyless.
All I want is the free parking.
Whatever. I’ve had Monopoly games take weeks to complete and incorporate intricate and meaningful off-board barters.
You’re only limited by your own imagination…
To each his own, of course! The right group of people can make anything fun, even playing Monopoly or reading the phone book.
The only free parking goes to the bums living in their campers. Everyone else who dares to park a vehicle on Ballard’s streets, they land on “Go To Jail.”
What will Ballard’s resident socialists make of all this?
Well, Olie, this is a fine mess you’ve gotten us into this time.
Guess I qualify as a resident socialist, at least I have been accused of such. I like it, they are diverting funds from the bourgeoisie to the benefit of the schools serving the masses. A slick application of capitalism.
where’s the ‘Missing Link’ shortcut that will bring me through town without concrete trucks running over my thimble?
Hence, only a 60% graduation rate.
I agree ABtm….
Ballard’s graduation rate is 90%.
I hear every other square is a homeless shelter.
