Ballard Rotary recognizes students of the month

Each month, Ballard Rotary recognizes two Ballard High School students to be their “students of the month.” This month, seniors Sarah Otness and Matt Kelly have been selected.

Sarah Otness, Senior
Current ASB President, Sarah is an exceptional and positive student athlete and leader. She has played volleyball up until last year and is a Track and Field captain. Sarah is also an active Associated Student Body member since sophomore year, Pep Club president and founder, and has coached soccer for the past 7 years. This Fall Sarah will be applying to a number of schools; her top two are Washington State University and University of Buffalo. Her future goals are to obtain a business degree and then pursue a career as a graphic design.

Matt Kelly, Senior
ASB Vice President, Football Captain, Wrestling Captain, Future Business Leaders of America Treasurer, and avid community volunteer; Matt is an outstanding leader and athlete in his school and community. He is heavily involved at the Ballard Boys and Girls Club, where he received the youth of the quarter award sophomore year. He is a competitive athlete playing three varsity sports for Ballard, Football, Wrestling, and Track. Matt has gone to national teen Leadership Conferences in Pittsburg, Orlando and Atlanta with Keystone leadership Group of King County. He is applying to area schools like the University of Washington and as far away as University of Michigan, planning on obtaining a business degree
