Join neighbors and more than 22 local writers this Friday for the Ballard Writers’ Book Slam. During the slam, each author will each have three minutes to read/perform their work. Before and afterward meet and mingle with the award-winning and emerging authors and buy books through Secret Garden Books. “I’ve been referring to this slam as a literary smorgasbord because not only does it cover many genres but the authors are making literary treats that match (when possible) the theme of their book,” Peggy Sturdivant emails us. “It should be very lively and delicious. Lots of new authors, more direct sales by authors and a chance to hear the authors read/perform.”
The free event will be held at the Sunset Hill Community Club (3003 NW 66th St) on Friday from 6:30 to 9 p.m. Doors open at 6:30, main event starts at 7 p.m.
