The painting continues on the Ballard Bridge – so do the lane closures.
The Seattle Department of transportation says the outside northbound lane will be closed every weekday from 6 a.m. to 3 p.m. through the week of December 12th. After that, painting crews will occasionally close the lane until the end of January.
The northbound sidewalks are also closed, detouring northbound bicyclists. Pedestrians can use the other sidewalk but SDOT says the sidewalks are not wide enough for two-way bike traffic, so cyclists heading into Ballard are detoured to the Locks or the Fremont Bridge.
Once the eastern side of the bridge is painted, the contractor will move to the western side of the bridge, closing the outside southbound lane.
There will be four upcoming weekends that the bridge is closed completely. The closures will be from 3 a.m. to 6 a.m. on Saturdays and midnight to 6 a.m. on Sundays. The full bridge closures have not been scheduled.
