Notes and information for Friday

Updated 6:45 a.m.: It’s definitely warmer outside this morning than it’s been the last couple of days. You can hear the snow melting and falling from the trees and rooftops. The National Weather Service has issued a winter weather advisory until 10 a.m. Friday, which means we could see some more winter weather, but not much.

The morning commute will most likely be affected by the warm up, so once again, here are the live traffic cameras for Ballard:

  • No residential garbage collection today and only limited commercial service.

Road conditions permitting, garbage, recycling, and food/yard waste service will resume tomorrow — with customers scheduled for pickup today collected Saturday.

If your materials are not picked up, please put them out on your next regularly scheduled pickup day. Missed customers will be allowed to set out double their normal amount of garbage, recycling and yard waste at no additional charge.

  • Seattle Public Libraries will be open at 1 p.m. on Friday.
  • Metro buses will once again be on snow routing Friday. The buses will be chained up and up to 30 routes may be canceled. Those routes may be restored if the roads improve. Check here for updated information.
  • Students will have another snow day on Friday. Seattle Public Schools are closed once again.

Next Tuesday, Jan. 24 is a three-hour early dismissal from schools because of a scheduled furlough day. That day cannot be used as a snow make-up day. District administration will determine tomorrow if Friday, Jan. 27 – a scheduled day off for professional development – can be used as a snow make-up day.
