Ballard High School fundraiser going green

By John Verduin, BHS PTSA President

Ballard High School (BHS) Parent Teacher Student Association (PTSA) is having their annual fundraiser The BASH and we want to extend an invitation to the community to join the fun and help support your neighborhood high school. BHS recently received the 2011 Washington Achievement Award for overall excellence with special recognition for closing the achievement gaps. Help us build on this achievement and others as we raise much needed funds for our teachers and staff. Last year The BASH raised $60,000 that was granted to BHS teachers and staff for different teaching needs. The BASH is Friday March 16th at the Fremont Studios. The theme this year is “Going Green”—an early celebration of St. Patrick’s Day, minimization of paper and waste (reduce/reuse/recycle), and of course raising green (aka money).

The BHS PTSA would like to invite the community to support this year’s BASH. There are three ways you can get involved:

  • Donate. Do you have an item, service or cash that you would like to donate to the auction? It likely is tax deductible! Go online if you have something to contribute.
  • Attend. The BASH will be at a new venue this year—Fremont Studios, a state-of-the-art facility close to Ballard. Catering is by Kaspars and Chateau Ste Michelle wine will be featured. Tickets are $60 per person. Reservations can be made online.
  • Volunteer. Spend an enjoyable evening helping out at The BASH. Needed help includes setup, décor, check-in, check-out or cleanup. Email ballardbash@gmail.com if you are interested in lending a hand.
