This weekend marks one year since Japan was hit by a massive earthquake and tsunami, leveling entire cities and creating a large-scale nuclear crisis. On Saturday a relief group called “Artists for Japan” will be holding a sunset vigil at Golden Gardens. Group member Yuko Kunugi says there will be a Japanese drum team performing, a bonfire, and quiet praying. Kunugi writes:
“We are not trying to make this a huge event, it’s more for friends, families and communities to casually come, hangout and remember it for a little bit. Everyone is invited, it’s free to come and leave as they wish.”
The event is Saturday, March 10 from 5 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.
