This Saturday night is the Whittier Elementary “We Got the Beat” Auction, and there are a few tickets still available. The auction will be held at The Canal at 6 p.m. on Saturday, May 5. The school says the tickets can be bought from existing ticket holders on a first-come, first-serve basis. You can email Casey Holden at caseyholden@mac.com if interested.
There is also an online auction, ending tonight 9 p.m. and 10 p.m. and another ending on Thursday, May 3.
The auction proceeds go to Whittier Elementary, as they explain on their website:
Traditionally, every other year, Whittier holds an auction to provide the PTA with funds to help supplement the school’s budget. The proceeds are split between two years and make up the majority of the PTA budget. As we all know, in this economy, schools struggle to decide how to use the limited resources available by the state. And, as we also know, Washington State has fallen short of providing the basics required in offering the education our children deserve. The burden falls heavily on our teachers and staff, and that’s where the PTA comes in. By attending and/or donating to this year’s auction we can, together, help support and enhance the opportunities for each and every student’s education. In the past, PTA funds have helped fund field trips, in-class enrichment like new books, guest speakers, artist in residence, enhanced librarian and nurse hours, teacher discretionary funds, playground equipment and more.
