This Saturday and Sunday is the annual Ballard SeafoodFest, and on Friday, there will be a festival kick-off barbecue to benefit the Seattle Fishermen’s Memorial at the Ballard Elks (6411 Seaview Ave NW). The event will feature live music from Sourmash Stevedores playing Johnny Cash tunes, food from Smokin’ Petes BBQ, and beer from Maritime Pacific.
From the event write-up:
Invite your friends and neighbor, help us reach our goal of raising money for 2 college scholarships that Seattle Fishermen’s Memorial can provide for students who lost a parent at sea. In 2011, this event raised enough for 1 scholarship.
In the 2011-12 school year, the Seattle Fisherman’s Memorial provided 10 scholarships for students who lost a parent at sea. The event is 21 plus, costs $40 per person for all-you-can-eat, and starts at 6:30 p.m. Tickets can be bought here.
