On Thursday, August 30, there will be a large work party at Salmon Bay School’s playground. The construction to install new play equipment is already underway, and 150 volunteers are going to help work on the park and assist with maintaing the gardens.
From the Salmon Bay playground committee:
We’re super excited to tell you that construction has begun, and we’re on target to meet our grand opening at the end of September. At the last minute, Gretchen DeDecker from SPS reached out to ING Direct, a very generous funder, who offered us the final amount of money we needed to begin.
Not only did ING Direct donate $65,000 (!), but they are also donating and iPad cart (1 laptop, 16 iPads, 1 cart and wi-fi with extended warranty). But that’s still not all they offered …
On Thursday, August 30th, they are sending us 150 volunteers to help with installation of the play equipment, as well as assist with maintenance of the gardens. And here’s where we need your help:
- Can you bring a potluck dish to share with them for lunch?
- Can you bake a pie? Make some cookies? Bring a fruit plate?
- Would you be willing to pick-up coffee for the morning? Or donuts? Bagels and cream cheese?
- And can you help out at the work party with the installation and gardens?
If you are interested in helping out with the installation or the above requests, contact the playground committee by visiting their Facebook page.
