Updated 11 a.m. A Seattle Parks employee discovered a dead body in Ballard Commons Park this morning, said Seattle Fire spokesperson Kyle Moore. Firefighters and police responded to the scene and discovered the body of a man in his 50s who appeared to be a transient.
Some neighbors have been critical of a portable bathroom placed at the park, arguing that it has increased homeless activity there. The city of Seattle just wrapped up a survey that asked neighbors whether it should keep the Honey Bucket in the park. We’ll update you when the results are released.
Earlier: Firefighters and police officers responded to Ballard Commons Park this morning for a report of an unresponsive person. Police say the person is deceased, and a MyBallard reader told us she can see a body covered with a sheet.
