Baseball season is just around the corner, and Ballard High School is getting ready for the season with new coach, Doug Montgomery. He’s put together an outfield preview on the Ballard Baseball website, highlighting some key players in this coming season. “We plan on making a big run this year, and I couldn’t be more excited about it!” Montgomery writes.
From Ballard Baseball:
The Ballard Baseball outfield will once again be lead by 4-year letterman and recent Santa Clara signee Rory Graf-Brennen. Rory was a 2nd Team All-KingCo Honoree last season as a junior, after hitting .339, with an astounding .541 on-base percentage, and .559 slugging percentage. We expect Rory’s quickness to have a big impact atop the batting lineup, and in center field as well.
To his left will be returning starting RF, 3-year letterman, team captain, and 3 sport athlete Stuart MacGeorge. Stuart earned an Honorable Mention for All-KingCo last season as a junior, after hitting .349, with a .449 on-base percentage, and .429 slugging percentage. Stuart keeps his swing speed up by participating in Golf in the Fall, and his conditioning up by participating in Basketball in the Winter. We expect Stuart to play a solid RF, and be a middle of the order bat in our lineup.
In the mix will be junior and 2-year letterman Ian Scott. As a sophomore, Ian saw 39 plate appearances, and with a handful of hits and walks, drew a .351 on-base percentage. Ian’s quickness will allow us to slide him over to CF when needed, and we expect him to swipe a few bags for us as well. Hopefully Ian puts up a great junior campaign, which will set him up nicely to be looked at as a key contributor as a senior.
Also in the mix will be senior, 2-year letterman, and 2 sport athlete Trevor Hansen. As a junior, Trevor received a mid-season callup after hitting well at JV. In 14 plate appearances with the big club, Trevor got on base with a .286 percentage. In addition, his athleticism allowed us to use him as a pinch runner, and defensive replacement. In the Fall, Trevor helped lead King’s High Schoolfootball to another 1A State Tournament berth, serving as the team’s primary running back. As our only right-handed hitting outfielder, we expect Trevor to get plenty of at-bats, and fit in nicely with our hitting rotation.
