Next week, you can learn some valuable self-defense techniques at a free kickboxing class in Ballard. Umpqua Bank and Fighting Chance Seattle will be hosting the class, which will be taught by Jordan Giarratano. Giarratano is the owner and instructor of Fighting Chance Seattle, a Ballard-based martial arts school located at 1446 NW 53rd St.
The workshop will include a demonstration of advanced fighting and self-defense techniques from martial arts such as Muay Thai kickboxing and Tang Soo Da karate. Muay Thai is known as the “Art of 8 Limbs,” for its use of the knees and elbows, and is the most common stand-up fighting system used in Ultimate Fighting. Tang Soo Da is a Korean martial art, known for its high, fast kicks and strong stances, according to Fighting Chance. Giarratano will also talk about how martial arts is important for general fitness.
The class is Wednesday, Jan. 23 from 6 to 7 p.m. at Umpqua Bank on Market St. Learn more here.
