If you’ve been wondering what a rain garden could look like at your home, Sustainable Ballard and the RainWise program have put together a virtual tour of the neighborhood’s rain gardens. The tour shows photos of 15 RainWise participants who agreed to share their experiences and their rain gardens.

The Seattle Public Utilities RainWise rebate program has had almost 200 Ballard homeowners participate, and the average rebate is $3,500. The gardens in the tour are pretty diverse, ranging from modern to quaint and minimal to large features. Sustainable Ballard says some participants in the tour wanted the rain garden to capture rainwater for their gardens and replace lawn, while others use them to solve wet basement problems.
